Comment posted Of Buried Creeks and Thwarted Plans by Rocco.

I have always been intrigued by Burnham. It is difficult to reconcile the good and bad about him — the planning and design of truly beautiful places (at least in the case of Chicago, SF) against the why and “for who” behind the proposed and less often actual construction of these places.

I love the line from the Chron article about how “the ride was much less like a protest” but it was more like a “rolling festival.” Gee- how nice of them to point that out. I can’t think of thousands of others who have been saying the exact same thing – based on experience – for the past 15 years.

Hey, they actually wrote a half-way decent article, relatively speaking.

Great post, Chris. Makes me miss “home” even more, man. Wish I could be there this month. Play a few seconds of your music for me!
  • Valuing San Francisco
    Well said, as usual, Chris.

Forget about spreading “San Francisco values” around the country (because of course a Democratic Congress will do just that !! HE, HE!!), I would just like to see the San Francisco style burrito make inroads around the nation! I thought everyone put ALL of the ingredients inside the burrito. I was sadly mistaken!

  • What is ‘Interactive’ anyway?
What should we do with “abandoned industrial landscapes?” Leave them there, as is? Of course, I have my own ideas, but I am just curious about what Chris and others propose.

Personally, I have as much of a problem with the San Franciscans (and others) who fight any development unless it is in alignment with their overly idealistic visions as I do with those who rape and pillage in the name of “development.” There has to be a happy medium, even within a capitalist economy.
